The Human Rights and Peace Centre (HURIPEC), School of Law, Makerere University invites excellent and motivated candidates for a doctoral position in constitutional governance and the law.
The position is part of the project titled: “(Re)Constituting Uganda: Re-invigorating the struggle for human rights, peace and social justice in Uganda through an organic, resilient and popular Constitution”. The successful applicant will join a vibrant human rights and constitutional law research environment and enrol at the School of Law, Makerere University.
The studies are expected to begin on 1st December 2023. The scholarship position is for 4 years ending on 30th December 2027.
The Project “Re(constituting) Uganda” is being launched as a part of HURIPEC’s commemoration of its 30-year anniversary as a uniquely placed voice at the cutting edge of academia and civil society. Under the project, HURIPEC seeks to refocus its strengths in research, popular engagement, and advocacy for human rights, peace and social justice in
Uganda and the region. Concretely, the project will provide a platform for the development of a clear path towards autochthonous, meaningful and effective constitutional reforms as a means of achieving social justice and sustainable peace in Uganda.
